Creta Bourzia

Pittsburgh math rockers Creta Bourzia followed most obviously in the footsteps of local heroes Don Cabellero but added vocals and a stronger metal influence to their forebears' explosive, dissonant prog-punk. Creta Bourzia's roots lay in the early-'90s Pittsburgh band Liquid Brick, which dissolved and watched its members move on to other groups. Eventually, three core musicians -- vocalist/guitarist Jason Jouver, guitarist Jeff Ellsworth, and drummer Dennis Kern -- reunited under the Creta Bourzia banner, and brought in bassist Simon Clark for their first album, the locally released Memories of Earth. Clark later departed, and the band added producer/engineer Andy Wright on bass and extra percussion, as well as auxiliary keyboardist Justin Rathell. Both contributed heavily to the band's second album 1002. Most members went on to form the new Don Caballero.

The Sky Corvair essentialy began as a side-project while its members played in other Chicago area bands Braid, Cap'n Jazz and Gauge. The Sky Corvair played its first show in October 1994 and recorded nine songs in December 1994. Tim Kinsella on guitar/vox and Bob Nanna on Drums/vox.

Tornavalanche

As five human animals indigenous to the planet earth, Bob, Dan, Joel, Whitney and Zach have harnessed the intense power of the TORNAVALANCHE. As a contemporary rock combo, they use their instrumentation to emulate sheer power of the tornado and the avalanche. As a material event, this combo reminds us of a young Richard “Ringo” STARkey, as his hard ass drumming in Rorey and the Hurricanes followed the meteorological patterns of a devastating hurricane. This devastation eventually projected Rorey and the Hurricanes to the top of the Liverpool rock scene, and gave Ringo the confidence to form his own combo called the Beatles in 1974. Make no mistake friends, the correlation between TORNAVALANCHE and Ringo Starr is not some 3rd rate Philosophy 101 postulation. It is founded deeply in their harnessing of natural world for their own material use. Watch the skies my friends, a TORNAVALANCHE is on the horizon, and once experienced, you will never be the same.

Milwaukee's Call Me Lightning brings together the more frantic moments of The Talking Heads’ early days with the freak-out riffs and wild vocal style of The Jesus Lizard. Throw in some lyric styling reminicent of The Minutemen and you have a powerful combination. Definitely worth your money!

These guys sound like they came out of the midwest in the late '90s and I wouldn't hesitate recommending this to Braid Fans. This is available for purchase on iTunes and emusic and if you're into it, it's definitely worth paying for.
