Storm & Stress

Storm & Stress are a U.S. experimental rock trio consisting of guitarist/vocalist Ian Williams (ex-member of Don Caballero, current member of Battles), bassist Erich Ehm, and drummer Kevin Shea. They derive their name from the German literary movement Sturm und Drang.

Dakota/Dakota

This Chicago trio has fused together elements of chaotic discord found in their more math-rocky counterparts along with the sticky-sweet guitar and bass melodies that frequent many a Pele song. Members went on to play in Russian Circles.

Piglet

A three-piece instrumental band from Chicago, Piglet craft manic and hyperbolic orchestrated jams that the discerning listener would expect from such a storied city. Having cut their teeth in the clubs and bars of their native lakeside city, the trio capitalizes on the power afforded by Chicago’s monsters of rock and infuses it into their unique song writing approach, resulting in a style of music that they can sincerely call their own. With two members of Seyarse you know these kids are no strangers to complicated, mind-bending song structures.

Lights Out Asia

Lights Out Asia is an ambient musical project that was formed in February 2003 when Chris Schafer and Mike Ystad, themselves members of Aurore Rien, had considered to work on music together. Over the next few years, they would begin to record in various places. From bedrooms, basements, to living rooms and outdoors, the duo had finally written and mastered enough material for a full length album. This is their second.

1 Mile North

The atmospheric duo 1 Mile North consists of guitarist Jon Hills and keyboardist Mark Bajuk. Bajuk sets the pace with old school analogue synths while Hills overlays his ethereal riffs. Mellow post-rock/ambient with guitars, keyboards and samples.

Tortoise

Tortoise’s almost entirely instrumental music defies easy categorization, and the group gained significant attention from their early career. The members have roots in Chicago’s fertile music scene, playing in various indie rock and punk groups. Tortoise was among the first American indie rock bands to incorporate styles closer to Krautrock, dub, minimalism, electronica and various jazz styles, rather than the standard rock and roll and punk that had dominated indie rock for years.

El Ten Eleven

El Ten Eleven is a two-man post-rock band known for combining guitar/bass doubleneck with heavy effects pedaling over acoustic or electric drumming.

“El Ten Eleven’s dense, textured instrumentals recall post-rock standard-bearers like Tortoise or the Mercury Program, except theirs are created by only two musicians — and a whole lot of effects pedals.” - LA Times.
