The Assistant

The first album of a fantastic screamo band from the late 90’s, based out of New Jersey. They were formed from the ashes of the legendary You And I. Members went on to join/form bands like Wrong Day to Quit, The Jonah Complex and This Ship Will Sink. The second album can be found here.

Kitchens & Bathrooms

The American debut of Hamilton, Ontario's Kitchens + Bathrooms. Math rock with style and melody. Incredibly well crafted songs that are intense and catchy at the same time. (released 2003) All the songs flow together really well, to the point of not really being able to distinguish one song from the next, even though there are no tie-ins from other songs on this entire album.

Lickgoldensky

The second full length from Philadelphia's LGS. Not wanting to repeat themselves, gone are the snotty, obnoxious, pretentious fits of songs. Instead of songs blazing by in a whirlwind of drums and distorted everything, they have taken on a more refined tone. A new chapter for LGS that ranges from Hoover styled guitar lines, to Mars Volta rhythms, and still manage to keep the overtly heaviness of Neurosis, and The Melvins. Electronic interludes between songs keep the eleven song disc moving with out stopping once. Acoustic guitars, drum machines, guitar solos, piano, and everything in-between make an appearance here.

Glös

It all started as a few musical file transfers from laptop to laptop in a van while touring Europe as the band Engine Down, and ended as a full-blown album of musical compositions by means of the internet from opposite corners of America. Glös started as Keeley Davis (former frontman of Engine Down and bass/synth player for Denali) and Cornbread Compton (former drummer of Engine Down, Biology, and currently Heavens). After collaborating on over 20 songs and having never physically played the songs together in a rehearsal environment, the duo decided to take even more advantage of the freedom that this style of writing offered. They invited Keeley's sister Maura Davis (former frontwoman of Denali) to join the project and to add her beautiful, sultry vocals to the songs that already seemed perfect for her.

Featuring some Chicago music-scene heavyweights such as Chris Connelly (Pigface & Revolting Cocks), Brent Gutzeit (TVPow) , Mike Kinsella (Joan of Arc & Owls),Liz Payne (Town & Country and Pillow), Ben Vida (Town & Country and Bird Show)...and that's just to name a few.Listeners can identify the hand of each of Everyoned's members in little bits and pieces scattered about the record, but they would be hard pressed to claim that any of the members' sound or personality has risen to assume the identity of the record.

Tortoise

Tortoise’s almost entirely instrumental music defies easy categorization, and the group gained significant attention from their early career. The members have roots in Chicago’s fertile music scene, playing in various indie rock and punk groups. Tortoise was among the first American indie rock bands to incorporate styles closer to Krautrock, dub, minimalism, electronica and various jazz styles, rather than the standard rock and roll and punk that had dominated indie rock for years.

LaSalle

A dynamic threesome from central Michigan, LaSalle are post-rock balladeers featuring the husband/wife team of Mike & Katy Reed plus long time friend and drummer Dan Jaquint (Mike & Dan of Small Brown Bike fame). LaSalle begins where Small Brown Bike left off, capturing the same brand of catchy rock with punk rock roots and an indie aesthetic. The difference now is a certain maturity, and the diversity provided with male/female vocals.

Troubled Hubble

Proof that relentless good cheer, mountains of hard work, and a knack for pop hooks don’t always lead to disappointment, shattered dreams, and office jobs: Troubled Hubble, the band you’ve never heard of but that will soon be making you as jitteringly happy as they are. Maybe they already are. Imagine the very best elements of Tripping Daisy, Weezer, Built to Spill, the New Pornographers, the Weakerthans, and Jets to Brazil, and you’ll have barely touched the surface of this remarkable band.

Zozobra

A rock band that was first conceived by Caleb Scofield during 2006. He was joined by Santos Montano for the band's first release, "Harmonic Tremors" in 2007. Sonically, Zozobra bears a lot in common with the experimental-hardcore of Old Man Gloom (a project in which both of its members are involved) and symbolically shares a synonymous name; at the same time Zozobra is more hard rock than metal. Another great Hydra Head Band.

The Swell Season

The 2006 album by Glen Hansard and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová. The title of the album as well as of the song The Swell Season is inspired by Hansard's favourite novel by Josef Škvorecký from 1975 bearing the same title. Since their mutual rise to prominence after starring in the film Once they now sometimes refer to themselves as "The Swell Season" when performing together.
